This free name plate maker builds personalized desk name plates from a class list. Paste one name per line, add an optional class or subject as a subtitle, and choose a tent card or a name tag. The tent card prints the name on both halves with a fold line, so it reads from either side of the desk, and the name tag prints the same names as a single rectangle. Up to 36 names print through the browser print dialog.
Print a desk name plate that reads from both sides
Paste student names into the class list, one name on each line. A column copied from a spreadsheet lands that way. Blank lines are skipped, and spaces around a name are trimmed. The page uses the first 36 names and says so when the list is longer. Subtitle is optional. A class, period, or subject typed there prints under every name. Tent card is the desk name plate, with the name on both halves. Name tag is the flat rectangle, with the name once.
On a tent card the top half is upside down, and the dashed line between the halves is marked Fold. Fold on that line with the printing on the outside, then set the card on the desk so each side reads the name right side up. Print sends the plates to the browser print dialog: two tent cards on a page, or ten name tags in two columns of five. Cut along the border. The printout is a desk name plate template you can run again with a new list, and Save as PDF in the dialog keeps a file.

How do I fold the tent card so both sides read correctly?
The top half is printed upside down on purpose. Fold on the dashed line marked Fold, with the printing on the outside. The fold becomes the top of the tent, and the name reads right side up from either side of the desk.
How is a name tag different from the tent card?
A name tag is a flat rectangle with the name once and the same optional subtitle. It has no fold line. Name tags print ten to a page, in two columns of five. The tent card is the folded desk name plate, with the name on both halves.
What happens if the class list has more than 36 names?
The first 36 names go on the page, and a note shows how many names were pasted. Blank lines are not counted. Remove the names you already printed and print again to make plates for the rest of the list.
