Use this pictionary phrase generator when a class needs a fresh prompt and nobody wants to hunt through a deck. It deals random words to draw, one at a time or as a short list, from an original set of 240 classroom prompts. Choose easy, medium, or hard, then keep animals, food, actions, objects, or places. Hide the prompt before the guessers look, copy it for a lesson plan, and start a 30, 60, or 90 second timer that follows the real clock. These pictionary generator words were written for this site as an independent drawing game.

A pictionary phrase generator for the next round

Press Generate word and the page deals one prompt in large handwriting, ready for the person who is drawing. Switch How many to 3, 5, or 10 when you want a short list of words to draw instead, for a station rotation, a substitute plan, or a stack of cards you copy into a document. The same settings apply either way: difficulty, category, and a pool that skips prompts already used in this visit.

People look for a pictionary phrase generator when the round is about to start and the usual three ideas have already been drawn. This one stays in the browser. There is no account, no download, and nothing you generate is sent anywhere. Copy a prompt if you want to keep it, because a refresh clears the round.

Easy, medium, and hard words to draw

Easy prompts are single, familiar things a younger student can sketch in one shape: a cat, a cookie, a ball, a school. Medium prompts add a more specific subject or a simple action, such as a seahorse, a pancake stack, or tying a shoe. Hard prompts are short scenes that need two or three ideas in one picture, such as a cat asleep in a cardboard box or a rainy bus stop with one bench.

Leave all three difficulties on for a mixed drawing game, or turn two off when the whole class is at the same level. The line under the category chips shows how many prompts match. A hard scene has to be drawable in a timed round, so the list stays with concrete people, animals, food, and places.

Five categories you can mix

Animals, food, actions, objects, and places cover the subjects classrooms actually draw. Turn a category off and it leaves the pool. Turn them all back on with Select all. Actions are useful when the class already knows how to draw a person and needs a verb. Places work well for a geography or community unit. Food and animals are the quickest win for younger drawers.

Every entry is tagged, so the pictionary generator words on screen already match the chips you selected. The full list holds 240 original prompts, 16 in each category at each difficulty. They were written for this page. They are a classroom drawing list, separate from any commercial card deck.

Hide the prompt and run the round clock

Hide word covers the prompt so a projector or shared screen shows a blank card. The drawer reveals it, reads it, and hides it again before turning the screen toward the class. Generating the next word while the card is hidden keeps the new prompt covered too, so the guessers never see a flash of text. Copy still copies the real wording, which is handy when the teacher is the only one who should have it.

The timer is optional. Choose Off, or a round of 30, 60, or 90 seconds. It waits until you press Start, then counts down from the clock on the device. Switching tabs or hiding the word does not stall it, because each tick checks the actual time rather than assuming the page stayed in the foreground. Pause for a question, Reset to give the full length again, and Time is up tells the class the round is over. A new prompt puts the clock back to the length you chose and waits for Start.

A classroom drawing game that stays appropriate

The list is written for school. Prompts are everyday things students can draw on a whiteboard, a tablet, or a scrap of paper: animals, snacks, chores, school places, and silly-but-gentle scenes such as juggling three apples. There are no brand names to advertise, and no violent or adult subjects to skip past in front of a class.

A simple round is one student at the board, the rest guessing aloud, 60 seconds on the clock. For a quieter room, generate ten prompts, copy the list, and give each table one line. For a fast finish-early task, set Easy and Animals and let students draw until the timer ends. Pictionary is a trademark of its owner. This tool is an independent word list for that kind of drawing game, published by ATC21S with its own prompts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pictionary phrase generator?

It is a tool that deals a random word or short phrase for a drawing game, so the person sketching has something to draw and everyone else tries to guess it. This page adds difficulty, categories, a hide button for shared screens, and a 30, 60, or 90 second timer.

Is this the official Pictionary game?

Pictionary is a trademark of its owner, and that game ships with its own cards. This page is an independent ATC21S tool with an original classroom list for teachers and families who want words to draw.

How many prompts are in the list?

There are 240 original prompts: 16 easy, 16 medium, and 16 hard in each of five categories (animals, food, actions, objects, and places). The counter under the category chips shows how many match your current settings.

How do I keep the class from seeing the word?

Press Hide word before you turn the projector toward the room, or hide it after the drawer has read the card. The prompt stays covered, including when you generate the next one, until someone presses Reveal word. The timer and the controls stay visible.

Does the timer still work if I switch tabs?

Yes. The countdown stores the moment it should reach zero and checks the real clock, so a hidden tab or a covered word does not pause it. Press Pause when you want it to wait, and Reset to restore the 30, 60, or 90 seconds you selected.

Can I generate a list instead of one word?

Yes. Set How many to 3, 5, or 10 and press Generate list. You get that many different prompts from the current difficulty and categories. Copy puts a numbered list on your clipboard for a lesson plan or a handout.

Are the words safe for school?

Yes. The list is classroom-safe: no brand names, no violent subjects, and no adult content. Easy prompts are single familiar words, such as cat or jumping. Hard prompts are still everyday scenes a student can sketch, such as a picnic basket or a snowy cabin.

Will the same prompt come up twice in a row?

The page skips prompts already dealt during this visit until every match for your settings has been used, then it starts that pool over. Allow used prompts again clears that memory if you want a full reshuffle. A refresh clears it too.
