About this coloring page
The flag of Colombia consists of three horizontal stripes of yellow, blue, and red. The yellow stripe is located at the top, followed by the blue stripe in the middle, and the red stripe at the bottom. The flag has a ratio of 2:3, meaning that the width is twice the height.
The yellow stripe represents the richness of the country's natural resources and the sun. It also symbolizes the principles of justice, harmony, and sovereignty. The blue stripe represents the two oceans that border Colombia, the Atlantic and Pacific. It also symbolizes the sky, rivers, and the importance of water resources. The red stripe represents the bloodshed during the fight for independence and the courage and valor of the Colombian people.
The flag of Colombia was first adopted on November 26, 1861. However, the design has undergone several modifications throughout history. The original design had a different shade of yellow and a different order of the stripes. It was later modified in 1863 to the current design we see today.
The flag's design was inspired by the flag of Venezuela, as both countries were part of Gran Colombia, a short-lived republic that existed from 1819 to 1831. The flag of Gran Colombia had the same three horizontal stripes but with a different order: yellow, blue, and red. When Gran Colombia dissolved, Colombia retained the same flag design but with a different order of the stripes.
The flag of Colombia holds great significance for the Colombian people. It represents their history, struggle for independence, and the values they hold dear. It is proudly displayed during national holidays, sporting events, and other important occasions. The flag serves as a symbol of unity and pride for the Colombian nation.
