Six ways to change case, one click each

Type or paste into the box, then press one of the six buttons underneath it. Each button shows a small example of what it will do, so you can see that Title Case gives you Hello World and tOGGLE cASE gives you hELLO wORLD before you commit to it. The buttons stay greyed out until there is text in the box.

The conversion happens in place: the text in the box is replaced by the converted version, and the box is what you carry on editing. That means you can stack changes if you want to, though most people press one button and stop. If you go too far, the simplest fix is to paste the original back in and start again, since there is no undo button of its own.

When the text looks right, Copy Text puts the whole box on your clipboard and the button confirms with a tick for a couple of seconds. Clear empties the box for the next piece of text.

What each option actually does

UPPERCASE turns every letter into a capital, which is the one to reach for when a form or a display board wants all caps. lowercase does the reverse and is the usual rescue for a paragraph typed with caps lock on by accident, or for an email subject line that arrived shouting.

Title Case and Capitalize Each Word both capitalise the first letter of every word and lowercase the rest, so lord of the rings becomes Lord Of The Rings. It is a mechanical rule rather than a style guide, so short words like of, the and and are capitalised too. If you are following a house style that keeps those lowercase, convert first and then fix the handful of small words by hand.

Sentence case lowercases everything and then capitalises the first letter after a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark, which is what you want for body text that came in as all caps. Names and the word I will need putting back by hand. tOGGLE cASE flips the case of every character, turning capitals into small letters and small letters into capitals, which is mostly used for stylised text rather than anything serious.

When teachers and parents reach for it

The most common job is fixing capitals in text that has been pasted from somewhere else. A worksheet heading copied out of a PDF often arrives in full capitals, and converting it to Title Case takes a second compared with retyping it. Notices, newsletter items and classroom labels are the same story.

It is also useful when you are preparing letters for early years work. Reception and Year 1 children are usually taught lowercase letter shapes first, so a list of words typed in capitals is the wrong model for them. Dropping the list to lowercase before printing means the letters on the page match the letters they are learning to form. Flip the same list to capitals later when you are teaching capital letters and full stops.

Beyond school, it handles the everyday tidying up: a spreadsheet column of names that came back in all caps, a job title that needs capitalising, a social post you decided should not be shouting after all, or a heading you want to see in a few different forms before choosing one.

Nothing leaves your browser

The conversion runs entirely on your device. No text is uploaded, saved or logged anywhere, so pasting a draft letter, a pupil's writing or an internal document is safe. Refreshing or closing the tab clears it completely.

There is no sign-in, no limit on how much text you convert and no cost. It works the same on a phone, a tablet or a school desktop, and the copy button uses the standard clipboard, so the text pastes straight into a document, an email or a slide.
