Seychelles Flag Description

The flag of Seychelles consists of five oblique bands of blue, yellow, red, white, and green radiating from the bottom left corner of the flag. The blue band represents the sky and the ocean surrounding the islands, while the yellow band symbolizes the sun. The red band represents the people and their determination to move forward in unity, while the white band symbolizes social justice and harmony. Finally, the green band represents the land and the natural environment of the country.

The flag of Seychelles was adopted on June 18, 1996, after the country transitioned from a one-party state to a multi-party democracy. The previous flag, which was used from 1977 to 1996, featured a red, white, and green horizontal tricolor with a yellow-bordered red triangle on the hoist side. The new flag was designed to reflect the principles of democracy, social justice, and environmental preservation that the country aimed to uphold.

Seychelles, officially known as the Republic of Seychelles, is an archipelago country located in the Indian Ocean off the eastern coast of Africa. It consists of 115 islands, with the main islands being Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. The country gained independence from the United Kingdom on June 29, 1976, and has since developed into a popular tourist destination known for its stunning beaches, coral reefs, and diverse marine life.

The flag of Seychelles represents the country’s natural beauty, cultural diversity, and commitment to democracy and social justice. It serves as a symbol of national pride and unity among the Seychellois people.
