Professional Development Modules

The first of a series of professional development modules are able to be downloaded below. The modules, in English and Dutch, provide educators the background to the developmental learning approach ATC21S™ has taken and how the knowledge and skills associated with the project can be applied in classrooms. In later modules, participants will explore the theoretical and conceptual frameworks of collaborative problem-solving and ICT literacy and identify rubrics for assessing these skills. Participants will then be taken through the integrated ATC21S™ assessment and reporting system and shown how reports can be interpreted to plan programs of teaching and learning for their students.

Module 1 – English

Using a developmental model to assess student learning: developmental learning frameworks

In this session the reader will:

  1. Become more familiar with a developmental approach to assessment and teaching, and the reasons we have taken this approach in ATC21S™.
  2. Understand the theoretical underpinnings of the teaching and learning associated with collaborative problem-solving and learning through digital networks.
  3. Understand the link between developmental learning and differentiated instruction.
  4. Be able to identify where differentiated opportunities to learn need to be provided to collaborative teams and members within teams.

Een ontwikkelingsmodel gebruiken om het leren van een leerling te beoordelen: Kaders voor ontwikkelingsleren

In deze module zal de lezer:

  1. Vertrouwder raken met een ontwikkelingsbenadering van beoordeling en onderwijs en de redenen waarom we met ATC21S voor deze benadering hebben gekozen.
  2. De theoretische ondersteuning begrijpen van het onderwijs en leren in het kader van coöperatieve probleemoplossing en het leren in digitale netwerken.
  3. De relatie begrijpen tussen ontwikkelingsdenken en gedifferentieerde instructie.
  4. In staat zijn om vast te stellen wanneer gedifferentieerde leermogelijkheden aangeboden dienen te worden aan samenwerkende groepen en groepsleden.

Module 2 – English

Defining and assessing 21st century skills

In this session the reader will:

  1. Learn about the way in which 21st century skills – collaborative problem-solving and ICT literacy – are defined and assessed.
  2. Explore the theoretical and conceptual frameworks used in defining collaborative problem-solving and ICT literacy.
  3. Explore the developmental hierarchies of collaborative problem-solving
  4. Identify the rubrics associated with assessing collaborative problem-solving and ICT literacy
  5. Introduce the idea of the dashboard and role allocation of students in collaborative problem-solving and collaborative learning through social networking.

Definitie en Beoordeling van 21ste-eeuwse Vaardigheden

In deze module zal de lezer:

  1. Leren hoe 21ste-eeuwse vaardigheden samenwerken en probleemoplossen (in de vorm van samenwerkend probleemoplossen) en ICT-geletterdheid – worden gedefinieerd en beoordeeld.
  2. De theoretische en conceptuele kaders verkennen die worden gebruikt bij de definitie van samenwerkend probleemoplossen.
  3. Kennismaken met de hiërarchische ontwikkelingsstadia van samenwerkend  probleemoplossen.
  4. De rubrieken identificeren die worden geassocieerd met samenwerkend probleemoplossen.
  5. Het idee introduceren van het openingsscherm (dashboard), de rolverdeling van leerlingen in samenwerkend probleemoplossen en samenwerkend leren middels sociaal netwerken.
